The JoongAng Ilbo, the JoongAng Daily and the Seoul Metropolitan Government will host the 2008 Hi Seoul International Walking Festival on the weekend of Sept. 27 and 28. The event will begin at Seoul City Hall Plaza at 9 a.m. on both days.

Participants will be able to choose from two courses on Sept. 27. One is a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) route past Changgyeong Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, through Naksan Park and back to the Cheonggye Stream. The other stretches for 30 kilometers, and includes a wider scenic tour of Mount Namsan and the Han River. On Sept. 28, walkers will take a 10-kilometer route that connects the Cheonggye Stream and Mount Namsan.

The walks will provide a better understanding of Seoul’s cultural heritage and give participants a chance to take in the autumnal scenery.

To sign up, please go to www.hiseoulwalking.co.kr. The deadline for registration is Sept. 24, and participation is free. For more information, call (02) 751-9680.
