The 13th ESU Korea Public Speaking Competition, organized by the Korea JoongAng Daily and the British Embassy and sponsored by HSBC and Incheon National University, is under way.


The contest, also sponsored by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, will be overseen by the U.K.-based English-Speaking Union. Preliminary rounds of the competition will run online through Jan. 22, 2017, and the final round will take place on Feb. 18, 2017, at Incheon National University.


The competition aims to create a stage for cultural exchange through English as well as raise students’ international communication skills. Winners of local competitions will get a chance to participate in the international speaking competition held at the English-Speaking Union’s headquarters.
