A collection of essays by thinkers, scholars and Korea experts from abroad has been commissioned to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Republic of Korea.
“Korea Now: National Growth Seen from Abroad 1948-2008” contains contributions by 25 writers, including economist Jeffrey Sachs, writer and philosopher Guy Sorman, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and former U.S. ambassador to Korea, Donald Gregg.
Through the eyes of the international community, the book examines the achievements of the republic and its responses to the political, economic, social, cultural and diplomatic challenges it has faced since it was founded in 1948, with a view to considering Korea’s future development.
The book is a joint publication by the Committee for the 60th Anniversary of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Culture and Information Service and the JoongAng Daily.
A selection of contributions will be printed in the JoongAng Daily, and the book will be published at the end of September.
